For Immediate Release QSC'S ARCHITECTURAL BREAKTHROUGH IN JAPANTokyo-based distributors, ComodoMattina, Inc., report on two major installations
At Iruma Municipal Hall QSC Installation Line Array (ILA) and Modular Design (MD) components were specified for the refurbishment of this 1,100-seat auditorium, located in the Saitama Prefecture. Whereas the pre-existing system had been installed inside the proscenium arch, this time the main sound reinforcement system has been designed in front of the arch in order to generate a higher SPL and better coverage, with improved clarity. While this acoustical solution would generally be favoured it is seldom permitted in general civic halls as it interferes with the architectural aesthetic. That the ILA system was permitted to adopt such a position outside the pros arch in this instance was completely unprecedented, believes ComodoMattina's Takafumi Asahina. The main hangs consist of six WideLine WL2082-i and a single WL115-sw per side, the triamped system powered by a pair each of QSC's Powerlight PL224 and PL236, using QSC's BASIS 914lz DSP system control. The amp rack is set inside the proscenium arch, controlled and monitored remotely from a PC running QSControl, located in the mixing booth at the rear of the auditorium. The ModularDesign MD-F122/94r and MD-L115 subs are used as side fills either side of the stage (and/or front fills) - the former powered by channel one of a QSC PLX3102 and the MD-L115 loudspeakers driven by channel two, using the built-in filter switches. The DSP in the BASIS 914lz is used to delay the sound between the MD and ILA systems - moving the sound image to the stage from the proscenium side - and also to switch the delay time via by the snapshot function. Over at the small live venue, Again - in the Shinagawa district of Tokyo - QSC's AcousticDesign Series has provided the sound reinforcement solution. This new facility will be used for jazz and acoustic music performances, as well as Rakugo (a Japanese traditional talk show). There are two adjacent stage locations, which are used dependent upon the event. Three stylish AD-282H surface-mount speakers, with rotatable waveguide, are ceiling mounted, the orientation of the centre speaker rotated whenever the stage position changes. The side-facing positioning of the AD-S282H loudspeakers not only guarantees precision coverage but ensures there is no obscuring of sightlines. Finally, powerful floor monitors were required for the restricted stage space - and again QSC were equal to the challenge, with three compact ISIS series I-82H loudspeakers proving to be the perfect solution. The AcousticDesign and ISIS loudspeakers are powered respectively by QSC PLX1804 and PLX1104 amplifiers.
